Obituary for Timothy Bryant LaPlante

Following a courageous battle with cancer, on April 28, 2023, Timothy Bryant LaPLante walked on at the age of 63. He always said, “Don’t half-ass two things when you can whole-ass one,” and he whole-ass fought his battle until his final breath, which he took at home, surrounded by his family.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, the love of his life, Tammy; children: Asherlee, Jacob, Daniel, and Michael; grandchildren: Dakota, Nathan, Dominik, Addison, Evan, and Emilia; brother: David; as well as many other friends and family members. Tim and Tammy decided on forever, for their love, and it is with that same endless love that he will be held in the hearts of all those who knew him.

With a dream to travel and serve his country, Tim proudly enlisted and served in the United States Air Force for 12 years. After, he graduated from Oregon State University in 1998 with a Bachelor’s in Occupational Health & Safety. Following this, Tim worked as a Safety Advisor and successfully aided in providing support for thousands of people across North America who were affected by natural disasters while endeavoring with FEMA.

Many things brought Tim joy in this life; drone photography, reading, doting on his wife, music, politics, traveling, cooking, golfing, bowling, fishing, darts, and so many other things that made his life full. One of the things he was most passionate about and loyal to was his love of the San Francisco 49ers and his 49er Nation community. His love of this ran so deep, that his walking on during the NFL Draft felt very fitting; his number was called and he was drafted in the 1st round.

At Tim’s request, no service will be held. A small, private, ceremony will be held at a later date, which will include the spreading of his ashes in a place that meant a great deal to him.

Tim’s family believes that cancer cannot cripple love, it cannot shatter hope, it cannot conquer the spirit. And yet, too many lives are lost to cancer. In his honor, Tim’s family has chosen to support The Cancer Research Institute, which is dedicated to saving more lives by fueling the discovery and development of powerful immunotherapies for all types of cancer. They ask that in lieu of gifts or flowers, a donation be made in Tim’s name to help support a world immune to cancer; so that others fighting the same valorous battle can win.
