Obituary for Lois Y. Richert (Thompson)
Lois Yvonne (Thompson) Richert, age 89, of Hillsboro, Kansas, peacefully passed away surrounded by family, on Saturday, February 4, 2023.
She was born to Carl A. and Hilda M. Thompson in Dallas, Oregon on July 30, 1933 in her grandmother’s home. She attended schools in Dallas, Silverton and Perrydale, graduating from Dallas High School in 1951. She worked for a local jeweler, in a variety store, and as a long-distance telephone operator for the telephone company in Salem, Oregon prior to marriage.
In later years, she worked for Jefferson Manor Retirement Home. She married Dormer Glen Richert on September 14, 1956. They were married for 62 years. The marriage was blessed with four children, Sheryl Richert, LaDonna Lovell (Kevin), Bruce (DeAnna), and Joni Calam (Richard). She had ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Lois enjoyed reading, sewing, baking bread, and camping. She lived with her daughter Joni in Hillsboro, Kansas for the past three years. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Visitation will be held at Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center on Wednesday, February 15 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. A private burial service on Friday, February 17 for family only will be followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Evangelical Bible Church in Dallas, Oregon.
