Obituary for Jimmie Ellis Dugger

Jimmie Dugger, a resident of Independence died on November 9th in Salem Hospital. He was born on January 21, 1935, in Iona, Kansas, the son of Finney and Mary Dugger. The family moved to Washington and then to Independence when Jimmie was in the third grade. He married Abbye Freeman on December 14, 1957. Jimmie served in the US Navy in the Mobile Construction Battalion Five. Jimmie operated power shovels and electric bridge cranes. He built roads and airports in Korea and the Philippines. He served from March of 1953 until he was honorably discharged in March of 1957. He received the National Defense Service Medal. Upon returning from active service Jimmie attended school and became a certified pilot and owned a Cessna. He loved flying and was an avid fisherman. Jimmie attended Cornerstone Church of God in Independence. He was a member of the VFW.

He is survived by his wife, Abbye, son, Tracy, son in law, Wendell Dick and grandchildren, Madison, and Mackenzie Dick, Jimmie and Billy Helfrich. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Gayle Dick on January 4th and Kathy.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 3rd at 2:00PM at the Cornerstone Church of God in Independence, Oregon. Interment will be in Zena Cemetery. To leave an online condolence or to share a memory for the family go www.BollmansTributeCenter.com
