Obituary for Daniel Warren Box

Daniel Warren Box, a resident of Gresham, Oregon died on Saturday, May 6th in Portland, Oregon. Daniel was born on November 12, 1965, in Glendale, California. The family moved to Salem, Oregon in 1969 so Daniel could attend the Oregon State School for the Deaf. He excelled with his education and communication there. He loved playing football at the school. Daniel graduated from the Oregon State School for the Deaf in 1984. He attended Chemeketa Community College. He was the first deaf student to study and complete the machine technology course. Daniel was then hired at Boeing in Portland starting in 1987. He started out as a general machinist and later programmed and supervised machining equipment. He received the Boeing one in a thousand award. Daniel loved his job at Boeing and retired in 2019. After retirement he got pleasure in feeding and watching the hummingbirds. He also enjoyed selling Boeing stickers and collectables all over the world on eBay. Daniel adored the love of his life, his daughter Audrey. He was so proud of her accomplishments. They enjoyed going out for ice cream and dinners. He was always interested in learning about her travels and sharing his interests. Daniel often liked to discuss the news, politics, and the world with others. He was proud to be Deaf and was a strong advocate for himself. He enjoyed sharing with hearing family and friends about Deaf culture. Daniel lost his brother David two days earlier, and he said I lost my best friend.

He is survived by his daughter, Audrey of Corvallis, parents, Paul and Karen Box of Sublimity, and sister Becki Juran of Keizer. Along with nieces and nephews and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, David Box who died on May 4,2023, his grandparents, Mary Lou Box, Gar and Ginny Vesper. And Aunt Linda Potsic.

Funeral Services will be on Saturday, June 3rd at 11:00AM at Bethel Baptist Church 5220 NE Center St Salem, Oregon.
