Obituary for Allan Wiebe

Allan Wiebe was born on March 26, 1923 in Dalmeny, Saskatchewan and passed away on December 1, 2023 in Salem, Oregon.
He grew up in a large family of 7 siblings and his father was his school teacher. The family moved to Mountain Lake, MN during Allan's high school years. Following in his father's footsteps, he went to Tabor College in Hillsboro, KS to become a teacher. He later earned Bachelor and Masters degrees from the University of Nebraska in Omaha. While attending Tabor College he met Selma Schmidt and they were married in 1945. In 1950 the couple with their daughters Ruth and Marilyn sailed to Belgium to study French for a year before going to Congo as missionaries from 1951 - 1960. Janet and Gordon were born during those years.

In 1960, due to unrest in Congo, the family returned to the US and Allan became the pastor of EBC church in Dallas, OR. In 1968 he accepted a position as professor of missions at Grace University in Omaha, NE. Allan also served on the boards of several mission agencies and churches throughout his career. Allan and Selma moved back to Oregon when they retired and he became the visitation pastor of EBC church in Dallas. In 2017 he retired from that position at the age of 94. He continued to enjoy life and celebrated his 100th birthday in March of this year.

Allan is survived by his children, Ruth and Jay Quiring, Marilyn and Steve Reischke, Janet and Stan Teeple Gordon and Delphia Wiebe, 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, sister Jean Janzen and brother Loren Wiebe along with numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife Selma, two granddaughters and one great grandson.

Services will be on Friday, December 29 at Evangelical Bible Church in Dallas, OR at 11 am. Memorial contributions may be made to EBC church for the Missions program. Bollman’s Tribute Center is caring for the family. wwwBollmansTributeCenter.com
